BTREGBRD.TXT BUTTER AND EGG BREAD (Leigha) 2 pkg dry yeast 1/2 cup warm water 1 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tbs salt 3 eggs, beaten 7 cups flour 1 egg yolk (optional) 2 Tbs water (optional) sesame seed (optional) 1. Disolve yeast in the warm water. 2. Scald milk and butter. Let cool to warm. 3. In a large bowl, mix sugar, salt, eggs, and milk mix. 4. Stir in 3 cups flour, then gradually stir in remaining flour. 5. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until double. 6. Punch down, and let rest for 30 minutes. 7. Divide into 9 strips, braid into 3 loaves. 8. Let rise 1 hour. 9. Optional: Beat the egg yolk and water together, brush carefully over the bread, and sprinkle with sesame seed. 10. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 25 - 30 minutes.
