LAYSALAD.TXT LAYERED SALAD (Sherry) 1 head lettuce, chopped and 1/2 cup chopped celery drained 1/2 cup chopped green pepper 1 med spanish onion, chopped 1 pk (10 oz) uncooked frozen peas 2 cups Hellmans mayonaise 2 Tbs sugar 4 oz grated cheddar cheese 8 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled NOTE: this makes a lot and is best made a day ahead. The flavors combine and become quite delicious. Frequently this makes more than the 9 X 13 pan and you can use an 8 x 8 pan for what's left. 1. In a 9 X 13 pan, layer , in order, the lettuce, celery, green pepper, onion, and peas. 2. Spread with the mayo. 3. Sprinkle, in order, with the sugar, cheese, and bacon. 4. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
